Sunflower Montessori has now opened its doors to the public for registration for the 2012-2013 school year. Spaces are limited, so make sure to register your child fast. We operate on a first come, first serve basis. We accept students fron 2 years 9 months until 5th Grade.

A Letter to Parents, From Sunflower Students

Sunflower Montessori 3rd - 5th grade students recently were given an in-class excercise on persuasive writing. Here is what they came up with!

            At Sunflower, we memorize Qur’an and learn Arabic.  We also study about Islam.  The study of these subjects really teaches and persuades students to be more like the Prophet (S) and to follow his examples.  Sometimes, we do projects in class about Islam.  Once, we did a play about the Sahaba in front of the parents.  The things we learn about Islam can help us make the right choices later on in life.
            The teachers at Sunflower Montessori are spectacular.  They are also very patient and kind.  They explain things well when you are stuck.   They are like your second mom.  For example, when you do not feel well, they let you rest.  They also give you fun and creative projects to do for class.  They are like your best friends.
            The Montessori work that we do is fun and easy way to understand all we learn in our regular subjects.  There are racks and tubes we use to do division and we use checkerboard to do multiplication.  We also have fun ways to diagram a sentence using geometric shapes.  We also learn about botany, zoology and many other exciting subjects using the colorful Montessori materials.

John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth Recognizes Sunflower Montessori

Alhamdulillah, at Sunflower Montessori, we always pride ourselves on providing a top notch education for our students. We aim to develop the whole child, stimulate critical thinking and creativity, and nurture a spirit full of faith, moral values, excellence in education.

Recently, we were recognized for our efforts by the John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. Several of our students placed highly in Mathematics and Language Arts assesment exams from John Hopkins, demonstrating academic level well above their grade level. Masha'Allah, a great testimony to the students, their families, and our staff.

Below is a video of our students at a previous Graduation Ceremony. Students recited the Asma-ul-Allahu Al-Husna, all 99 names of Allah SWTA, which they had memorized during the school year. The Prophet (S) is reported to have said, "Indeed, Allah has 99 names (one hundred minus one); whoever memorizes them will enter Paradise." [Bukhari and Muslim].
